What is ProAssist?

ProAssist is a digital platform that connects people who want to carry out tasks with individuals or businesses who need help.

As a rule, ProAssist is not the helper's employer, unless expressly agreed otherwise. The specific tax and employment-law assessment depends on how the work is actually organised and paid.

Tax and reporting for helpers

As a helper, you are responsible for correctly reporting your earnings to the Danish Tax Agency (Skattestyrelsen). ProAssist does not withhold tax for you, but reports your earnings to Skattestyrelsen once a year, and that report does not release you from declaring the income yourself.

Depending on your situation, the income may be treated for tax purposes as A-income, B-income, fees or income from self-employment. Not all helpers are taxed the same way.

Keep documentation of completed tasks, payments and any expenses on an ongoing basis, and check your preliminary income assessment (forskudsopgørelse) and annual tax assessment (årsopgørelse).

VAT and business registration

The helper is responsible for checking whether the activity requires business registration and/or VAT registration under the rules in force at any time.

If a helper carries on independent economic activity, an obligation to register for VAT can arise when the conditions in VAT law are met. The specific assessment depends on the nature and scale of the activity.

You state in the app yourself whether you are VAT-registered. Under Earnings you switch VAT registration on and enter your Danish VAT number, that is your CVR number. If you work through a company on ProAssist, the same setting is made on the company page. We check the number against the EU VAT register VIES. If the number is confirmed, we put a VAT line on the invoices we issue in your name. If it is not confirmed, there is no VAT line. The information is your responsibility, and you must correct it in the app if your registration changes.

See the current rules and thresholds at Skattestyrelsen and Virk.dk.

Invoices and documents from ProAssist

Once a task has been paid, ProAssist issues an invoice to the customer in your name and on your account under section 52 a(4) of the Danish VAT Act. The invoice shows your name and address as the seller, your CVR and VAT number if you are VAT-registered, a line for the labour, the delivery date and the payment date. If you are VAT-registered and confirmed, it carries a 25% VAT line. If you are not, it states instead that the seller is not VAT-registered and that the amount does not include VAT. At the bottom it states that ProAssist ApS issued the invoice in your name and on your account. If you are VAT-registered and the customer has no address on file, we ask the customer for it before the invoice can be created.

When the money is released to you, you also receive an invoice from ProAssist ApS for the 20% service fee including VAT, which has already been offset against the payout. If an invoiced payment is refunded in full or in part, we issue a credit note. ProAssist ApS is VAT-registered in Denmark, CVR 46483480, VAT no. DK46483480, Duftrankevej 25, 2. sal, 5200 Odense V. The VAT on the fee is Danish VAT, and if you are VAT-registered yourself you can deduct it under the ordinary rules. All documents sit under the task in the app, and you can share them from there. We do not send documents by email.

Reporting to the Danish Tax Agency (DAC7)

ProAssist is a digital platform and, under the DAC7 rules, must report helpers' remuneration to the Danish Tax Agency once a year. The report is filed by 31 January for the preceding calendar year, and the first report covers 2026 and is filed by 31 January 2027. It includes, among other things, your name, your address, your CPR or CVR number, your date of birth, your payout account, how many tasks you have carried out and what you earned per quarter, with our service fee stated separately. You receive a copy of the information we report. Documents and accounting records for paid tasks are kept for 5 years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as the Danish Bookkeeping Act requires.

In short

Your earnings through ProAssist may be taxable. ProAssist does not withhold tax, but reports your earnings to the Danish Tax Agency (Skattestyrelsen) once a year. You are responsible for reporting your income correctly and for checking whether your activity requires business or VAT registration. If in doubt, contact Skattestyrelsen or an accountant.

The information on ProAssist is general and cannot replace individual legal, tax or accounting advice. The rules may depend on each user's situation. If in doubt, contact Skattestyrelsen, Virk.dk, an accountant or another relevant adviser.
